the-pensiveteen asked: Your writing is remarkable. I'm still a student in high school, I take a French Literature course in school cause I study in a French establishment, not so lucky. I see you've published a novel ? I'm very curious, can you tell me what that's like ? How does it work ? And how did you proceed into writing one ? What inspired you in writing "The Green And The Gold ?" What is it about ? Thanks for taking time to reply ! :)
Thank you!
Writing a novel was a lot like what Sisyphus had to do except I finally got it to the top of the hill. I don’t really know how it works any better than anyone else. It took a lot of work, a lot of not answering my phone, a lot of being a bad friend and family member, and a lot of talking to myself.
I don’t really believe in inspiration when it comes to fiction. Someone, I forget who, said that the world opens itself up and gives you poems and I think that’s right. But it doesn’t do that for prose. With prose you have to work to discover the story. You have to sit and think and focus. That doesn’t have much to do with being inspired. People with the writing curse do it because they have to or they feel like they’re not living all the way.
